Many years ago I would volunteer for a group called Open Space. We'd meet regularly to hold space for one another. It was really just a chance for people to be heard and be seen.

The majority of the people that came through were teenage girls struggling with mental health, and parents raising autistic children.

It was a beautiful space.

The woman who ran it, Michelle, encouraged me to play and sing. One of my songs she celebrated as the theme song for the group.

This is not that song. Ha ha.

But on one occasion a young mother brought her young baby out. This child was beaming, and full of life and joy, and she inspired this song.

On the day that you were born, all the world, the angels and saints rejoiced in song. For this child carries love within her heart. This child plays games with god.

And she's growing older, each and every day she's growing bolder. For a child to lead the way and learn to shoulder, the world and how it's made, no one ever told her she would ever find a way but that girl is fearless and she knows the way.

Do you remember being young and free? Singing, dancing each and every beat. Do you remember what it's like to see only beauty every breath you breathe.
